Items
The primitive unit of work on a Runline. Workable items live on a stream.
An Item is the primitive unit of work on a Runline. Every concrete thing a team tracks, a Loan, an Alert, a Task, a Contract, is an Item; the Item type is what turns the generic primitive into a domain noun.
The shape of an Item
An Item carries its own lifecycle. Transitions (its state changes), checks, approvals, dependencies, and comments all live on the Item itself, not in a side system. A parent_id is optional, so Items can nest: a loan and its conditions, a case and its alerts. Workable Items live on a Stream; Items that are only recorded do not need one.
Working with them
Items are queried the way you would expect: list and filter by type, stream_id, state, and assignee. Everything a Runner does to an Item, and every human approval on it, is the same audited action that flows through the Grid, so the Item is both the unit of work and the unit of the record.
